Delhi University has announced that it will hold its convocation on February 26. In an official notification, the University stated that during its 97th convocation last year, the varsity had become the very first institution in the country to award digital degrees to its 1,78,719 students.

Last year, the convocation was conducted in a hybrid manner -- a mix of online and physical mode. Over 156 medals and 36 prizes were also awarded to the students in person by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who was the chief guest of the occasion. Over 600 doctoral degrees and 44 DM/M CH degrees were also awarded in person during the ceremony.

However, the notification did not mention the mode of convocation this year. The convocation will be conducted from 10 am on February 26 at "Multipurpose hall, Delhi University Sports Stadium Complex, University of Delhi."

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has constituted a seven-member committee to look into the utilisation and management of funds of the 12 Delhi University colleges funded by the Aam Aadmi Party dispensation. The committee has been asked to submit its report within 15 days; i.e. February 2, the order stated. It must be noted that the Delhi government and the administration of the 12 colleges are still locked in a tussle over the release of a grant.

The committee will be headed by Professor Balaram Pani, Dean of Colleges, Delhi University and comprises Vikas Gupta, Registrar of the University. Other members include principals of Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Maharshi Valmiki College of Education and Maharaja Agarsen College along with the Chairpersons of the Governing bodies of Acharya Narendra Dev College and Deen Dayal Updadhaya College.
