Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today inaugurated two academic complexes – Pushpagiri Lecture Hall Complex and Rushikulya Hall of Residence – at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar in Odisha.
As per the official data, the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 1,260 crore for the creation of the institute’s infrastructure in two phases. While inaugurating the two academic complexes at IIT Bhubaneswar, the chief guest, Dharmendra Pradhan, said, “I congratulate the entire IIT network, IIT Bhubaneswar, faculty members, teaching staff, non-teaching staff. I am confident that this institution is going to fulfil the need of our country and world at large. There is an MoU signed between Skill Development Institute (SDI) and IIT Bhubaneshwar. This synergy is expected to create 21st century requirements.”
He said, "The Industry 4.0 has necessitated creation of new models of business and development for the world. IIT Bhubaneswar must create new business and economic models to prepare for Industry 4.0. In the Industrial Revolution 4.0, we have to be new wealth creator. We will create new global adults from IIT Bhubaneswar and other IIT educational campuses in India. Being the in charge of education sector of the country, this is my first visit to an educational campus. I am thankful to Dr Ratnam V Raja Kumar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, for giving me an opportunity to visit a temple. Yesterday, I visited Bakula Bana Vidyalaya, the epicentre of freedom movement in Odisha.”
Foundation stone of ICT-IOC Bhubaneswar permanent campus laid
He also inaugurated the Skill Development Institute (SDI) Bhubaneswar and laid the foundation stone for the permanent campus of the Institute of Chemical Technology – Indian Oil Corporation (ICT-IOC) Bhubaneswar. A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between Prof RV Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar, and Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, Chairman, SDI, Bhubaneswar, on the ocassion. The MoU is signed to enhance skill development activities for unemployed, underemployed and underprivileged youth with technical education relevant to the industry under the expertise and guidance of IIT Bhubaneswar. Pradhan said, “Making India Aatmanirbhar especially our youth, is the foremost priority of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and institutes like SDI and ICT-IOC has a major role to play in realising this dream."
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also present on the occasion.
