Six aerospace engineering students of Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, did the country and the institite proud by winning several awards at the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition (IAAC). 

Gopalchetty Brahma and Vinay Kumar Reddy Andluri won gold honour and MS Ragul and Akash Sharma bagged the silver honour under the youth category (above 18 years), whereas under the junior category (under 18 years), Sathwick Bikumalla won gold honour and Bhanu Kapeendra Majety won the bronze honour. Gopalchetty Brahma had also won at IAAC-2020. He was awarded silver honour at the IAAC-2020 edition.  

As many as 4,700 students from the US, the UK, Russia, Canada, Germany, China, France, Italy, Spain, South Korea and New Zealand participated in IAAC, one of the biggest astronomy competitions in the world. The IAAC gives an opportunity to participants to showcase their knowledge and astronomy skills. It is an online astronomy competition I which students from all countries ca participate. In order to participate in the competition, you have to a high-school or university student. There are two age categories: Junior (18 years) and Youth (above 18 years). 

The competition consists of three rounds -- the qualifying round, the pre-final round and the final round. These rounds tests a participant’s in-depth knowledge of astronomy and astrophysics with a strict time limit of one minute for each question with a separate question timer for every question. To avoid any unfair means of cheating, the contest is tightly invigilated using online proctoring and web-based tracking, mouse pointer tracking and webcam tracking.
