BITSAT 2014: Students to get option to change exam date to avoid clash with EAMCET, say officials

BITSAT 2014 is all set to commence from May 14, 2014 and will continue till June 1, 2014. However, the BITSAT exam dates are clashing with that of EAMCET (Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test) which was scheduled to be held on May 17, 2014. But, EAMCET 2014 will now be conducted on May 22, primarily due to two reasons i.e. clash of dates with BITSAT and due to vote counting in AP to be held on May 16. Read full story here!

The EAMCET convener, clearing his stance on the matter, informed that BITSAT 2014 exams will not be affected and that EAMCET 2014 has been postponed. However to dig deeper and know what exactly the BITSAT officials have to say about the entire scenario and how is it going to affect aspirants taking both the exams, we caught up with one of the officers at the institute.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

Q. Are the dates for BITSAT and EAMCET clashing? Will it in any way affect BITSAT?

A. Yes. The dates for BITSAT and EAMCET are clashing but in no way will it affect BITSAT 2014.

Q. So, since BITSAT 2014 are clashing with that of EAMCET’s, what about the students who are taking the both the exams. Will the institute take any further steps to assist these students?

A. Yes. The clashing of dates will pose a problem for students who are taking both the exam. But, around the first week of May, the institute will put up an option - on the BITS admission page – for students to change their dates.

Along with changing their dates, students will also have to provide a reason of the date change. Shortly after this, the committee would take further decisions and students will be allowed to choose or will be allotted dates between May 30 and June 1, 2014.

Thereafter, they will be allotted any of the two dates and will be given any of the three campuses of BITS –Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa.
