The notification also stated that the Calcutta University and all its affiliated colleges have to sanitize their premises within ten days after lockdown is lifted.

 

The nation-wide lockdown which was extended on May 4 for two more weeks will end on May 18.

Earlier, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had released the revised academic calendar, according to which all the universities have to conclude their even semester for the 2019-20 session by May 31. For examinations, UGC suggested that year-end exams be conducted from July 1 to July 15 and Intermediate semester/year exam from July 16 to July 31.

UGC also recommended that classes of the new sessions for already enrolled students in second and third-year should start from August 1 and for newly admitted first-year students it should start on September 1.

On Saturday, West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee held a meeting with the Vice-Chancellors of the state universities and said that the academic calendar, including exams, will be implemented within a month after the lockdown is lifted.

He also added that the UGC guidelines reflect the recommendations made by the state government on issues such as conducting terminal examinations in the post-lockdown period.

In mid-March, due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country, schools, colleges, and educational institutions around the country were shut, as a preventive measure.

All examinations should be taken. Otherwise evaluation will not be done properly. Low standard students will get advantages. Academic sessions all over India should be extended 4 to 6 months according to situation.
