CSAB revises schedule for special round counselling for NITs/IIITs/GFTIs

The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has extended the deadline for an additional special round to fill up as many as 5,550 vacant seats in NITs, IITs and other government-funded technical institutions (GFTIs).

Following the revision of the schedule, aspirants can now register online, fill and lock their choices till August 17, 2015 (till midnight) and not August 11 as decided earlier. Please note that it may take around six hours to enable your registration and choice filling from the time of payment of initial fee at SBI.

This time, the CSAB has allowed every aspirant with a JEE Main rank to apply contrary to the last time where only students who were not allotted a seat in joint allocation process were allowed to register. However, the idea has not gone down well with a lot of parents and students who believe that giving a chance to aspirants who already has been given a chance is unfair.

It was on August 7 when the CSAB announced that it would conduct an additional special round to fill vacant seats in NITs, IIITs etc. Out of the total 23,919 seats, around 5550 seats were vacant. Out of these, 3100 were vacant in NITs alone.

Take a look at the revised schedule for special round counselling for NITs/IIITs/GFTIs below.
