IIT Guwahati is all set to start the GATE 2026 registration process on its official website. Candidates appearing for the GATE 2026 exam can review the details below and ensure they have all their documents ready before the GATE 2026 application form link is activated. 

GATE 2026 Application Form

The GATE 2026 application form will be released on August 25, and candidates must be aware of the registration process, instructions, and documents required to complete the form. Here, candidates can check all the GATE 2026 documents that are required, starting from registration to uploading. The GATE 2026 exam will take place on February 7, 8, 14, and 15

 GATE 2026 Document Checklist to keep ready before registration

Here is the list of documents required at the time of filling out the GATE 2026 application form -

  • Scanned copy of the valid photo ID proof - candidates must note that their personal information must be updated and correct. 
  • High-quality image of the candidate’s photograph (scanned), meeting all the mentioned specifications.
  • High-quality image of the candidate’s signature (scanned), meeting all the specifications as mentioned.
  • Scanned copy of the category (SC/ST) certificate in PDF format (if applicable). OBC-NCL and EWS candidates are not required to submit/upload any category certificate. 
  • Scanned copy of the PwD certificate (if applicable) in PDF format.
  • Scanned copy of the Dyslexic certificate (if applicable) in PDF format. 

 Accepted ID proof for GATE 2026 registration: Candidates can specify any one of the following valid ID proofs during the online application process -

  • Aadhar ID (preferable)
  • Passport
  • PAN Card
  • Voter ID
  • Driving License

For international candidates, only a valid passport/government-issued ID/ driving license will be accepted as a recognisable identification document. 

GATE 2026 Photograph Specifications for Uploading 

While uploading the photograph while filling out the GATE 2026 application form, candidates must keep the following things in mind -

  • The passport photograph must be colored with dimensions (3.5 cm width X 4.5 cm) with the face of the candidate covering 60 to 70% of the photo.
  • The background of the photograph must be white.
  • Must be uploaded in JPEG/JPG format with an aspect ratio, minimum aspect ratio=0.66; maximum aspect ratio =0.89.
  • Maximum pixel resolution is 530 x 690 pixels, and the minimum resolution is 200 x 260 pixels. Also, the file size must be a minimum of 5 KB and a maximum of 1 MB. 

GATE 2026 Signature Specifications for Uploading

The required specifications for uploading a candidate’s signature while filling out the GATE application form 2026 -

  • The signature must be clear in JPEG or JPG format with aspect ratio, height:width=1.0, where the value of A can be between 3.25 to 3.75. 
  • The signature must be in black or dark blue ink only.
  • The file size must be within 5 KB to 200 KB.
  • Candidates must get the digital image of the rectangular box (with the signature inside) scanned using a professional scanner. 
  • The signature must be in JPEG or JPG format. 
  • The maximum size for the signature must be 160 x 560 pixels.
  • The minimum size for the signature must be 80 x 280 pixels, and must be only signed by the applicant. 

Accepted Payment Modes for the GATE 2026 Application Form Submission

Candidates can choose any of the following for the GATE 2026 application fee payment: net banking/credit card/debit card, or UPI. The GATE 2026 application fee is as follows -

Application fees during the extended period (September 26 to October 6)

Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates (per test paper)

INR 1500

All other candidates, including foreign nationals (per paper)

INR 2000

INR 2500

Candidates must recheck all the details carefully and complete the payment before the due date to avoid a last-minute rush. The GATE 2026 dates are now available on the website. The GATE 2026 exam dates are February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026
