GATE 2026 admissions to start soon: Check expected dates, steps, instructions, and more

The GATE 2026 admissions will start soon. This year, IIT Guwahati will be conducting the GATE 2026 exam. Aspirants planning to attempt GATE this year must be well aware of the registration, exam and admission process. Check below to learn about the GATE 2026 examination details. 

Admission for GATE 2026 is expected to start soon. The GATE’s 2026 official website will be launched in the fourth week of July, followed by the release of the information brochure and the opening of the GATE 2026 GOAPS portal for application form filling and registration.

GATE 2026 Admission Process

GATE 2026 exam is conducted for 30 test papers, and scorecard will be valid for three years. GATE MTech 2026 admission process includes the following stages -

• Applying for GATE online
• Editing GATE 2026 application form (if applicable)
• Downloading GATE 2026 admit card
• Appearing for GATE 2026 exam
• Wait for results, and download scorecard
• Participate in GATE 2026 counselling rounds.

To access all above activities, candidates need to register themselves at GOAPS portal, which will be activated on website.

Considering last year's timeline, the IIT Guwahati will release the GATE 2026 application form in August. The application mode is online, and candidates must provide their personal, educational qualifications, exam details in the registration form.

Before the release of the application form, candidates must do the following -

• Check their GATE 2026 eligibility criteria.
• Make sure to get all documents updated such as educational certificates and marksheets.
• Update their ID proof, such as Aadhar card, Voter ID, etc. (if required)
• Must have a recent passport-size photograph. 
• Must go through the GATE 2026 paper codes and instructions carefully before applying.

The accepted payment modes are - credit card/debit card/net banking, or UPI. Candidates must pay the GATE 2026 application fees before the due date. 

After the completion of the GATE 2026 registration process, the authorities will activate the form correction link on the official website, where candidates will be eligible to correct or modify their details. Qualified GATE candidates will be eligible to pursue MTech/MSc or Phd in IITs, NITs, or other reputed institutes, or apply for PSUs.
