GATE 2026 Application Status Update: What to Do if it's Under Scrutiny, Correction, and Exam Dates

GATE 2026 application status update: As the GATE 2026 registrations have been extended, candidates can now visit official website and apply till October 13 by paying a late fee of INR 1500 (for female, category, and PwD) and INR 2500 (for others). Students who have submitted their application form and are waiting for their GATE form to be approved, here’s what they need to know. IIT Guwahati has extended the GATE 2026 registration date with late fees to October 13. To apply now, visit the GOAPS portal to create an account at the GATE candidate login 2026 and submit before the deadline. Registered candidates can appear for the exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15.

• Click on application portal and register
• Log in using your credentials and fill out the application form
• Upload the documents and pay the fees

GATE 2026 Application Status Update: Do’s and Don’ts

Once the GATE 2026 registration is complete, candidates must log in to their account to check the status. At first, the GATE 2026 application status will show “Application form under scrutiny.” This means that, your form is under review and will be updated if there is any discrepancy. Here are the different types of GATE 2026 application status and their meaning -

• Under scrutiny - application is under review and verification is in progress
• Application accepted -after scrutiny your form is accepted, and no action is required further
• Application submitted -not made payment yet
• Your application is submitted and payment received successfully -form and payment done successfully, now it will go under scrutiny
• Under scrutiny: defect rectification done -there were some defects in your form and you’ve rectified defects. It will now go under scrutiny.
• Your application is defective or incomplete - there are some defects in your GATE exam form and you have not rectified yet. Go through instructions and do necessary changes. 

What to do if your GATE 2026 application is under review or has defects?

Incase, your GATE 2026 registration has some defects, then go through the instructions and make necessary changes and submit it before the deadline. If your form is under review, keep checking your GATE application status 2026 using your enrollment ID and password. Also, the rectification can be done for free. If there are any defects in the application form, candidates will be notified on their registered email ID. 

How long does it take to get GATE 2026 application form approved?

The authorities usually take 3 to 4 days to approve your GATE 2026 application form. Like, for a candidate who submitted his/her application on October 7 got a defect notification update the next day on the GATE candidate portal. 

GATE 2026 Correction Window Start Date and Exam Date

Once the registration process is complete, the authorities will activate the GATE 2026 correction window. As per the official notification, the last date to submit changes is November 6. However, the GATE 2026 branch-wise exam dates will be announced a few days before the exam.
