Documents Required for GATE 2026 Registration
While completing registration for GATE 2026, candidates must keep the following documents ready:
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Signature (with black pen on white paper β scanned copy)
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- PwD certificate (if applicable)
- Valid photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID)
Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2026
Candidates can check the GATE eligibility requirements based on last year's notification below:
- Nationality: Indian citizens and international candidates from Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Ethiopia, and UAE can apply for GATE 2026.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must be currently in the 3rd year or higher of an undergraduate degree (B.Tech/B.E./B.Arch/B.Sc./B.Pharm) OR already completed a government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, or Humanities. OR Final-year students of MSc, MA, MCA, or equivalent programmes are also eligible.
- Age Limit: No upper age limit for appearing in GATE.
GATE Application Fees (as per 2025)
The GATE 2026 application fee for female candidates and those belonging to SC, ST, or PwD categories is INR 900, which increases to INR 1,400 if submitted after the regular deadline. For all other candidates, including foreign nationals, the fee is INR 1,800, rising to INR 2,300 with a late fee (As per last year). All payments must be made online via net banking, credit/debit cards, or UPI.
Passing marks in GATE exam is different for all 30 papers. The GATE qualifying mark for PSUs recruitment is also different. Candidates appearing in any GATE paper have to obtain the minimum mark in order to be declared qualified for the exam. Only qualified candidates are considered for admission to MTech/MSc/PhD programs and the MHRD scholarship.
