IIT Bhubaneswar

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has invited online applications for the merit-cum-means (MCM) scholarship and free studentship (renewal) for the 2021-22 academic year. As per an official notice, only eligible BTech and dual degree students (admitted only in 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21) can apply for the scholarship and studentship.

The number of MCM scholarship and free studentship awardees shall be restricted to 25 per cent and 10 per cent, respectively, of the students admitted in each year. The process for online application began on September 20 and the last date to submit application is October 20, 2021. The last date for submission of hard copy of the application and other documents is October 28, 2021.

Merit criteria: The scholarship for second, third and fourth year students will be decided based on the latest CGPA. Students who have backlog in any subject(s), including EAA, and have not cleared during the same session, i.e. in 2020-21, are not eligible for MCM scholarship and free studentship for 2021-22.

Means criteria: The gross annual income of a student’s parents/guardian and his family from all sources in the preceding financial year of 2020-21 (from April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021) must not exceed Rs 4.5 lakh.

While computing the gross annual income of the family, the income from all sources of both parents and income in student’s name, if any, will also be taken into consideration for applying the means criterion for all classes. For the parents enrolled in service (salaried class), the gross annual income of the parent as shown in their IT Form 16 for the corresponding financial year will be taken into account to determine the annual income.
