IIT Bhubaneswar joins hands with Oil India Limited to boost research
The aim is to undertake joint research in the area of earth sciences, basic sciences and engineering.
Oil India Limited and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to undertake joint research in the area of earth sciences, basic sciences and engineering.
“Some of the research focus include upstream, midstream and downstream segments of the oil and natural gas value chain entailing hydrocarbon exploration, development, production, reservoir management, pipeline transportation, refining and process technologies,” said a release issued by IIT Bhubaneswar.
IIT Bhubaneswar Director Prof VK Tewari emphasised the need for research on the niche areas of joint collaboration. He also cited the spirit of the National Educational Policy.
Winter internship programmes to begin from Dec 3
The institute will start winter internship programmes from December 3 till December 31. The duration of the internship will be not less than three weeks and not exceeding four weeks during winter vacations of the institute. Students can get internships in the fields related to the School of Basic Sciences, Earth, Ocean and Climate Sciences, Electrical Sciences, Infrastructure, Mechanical Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management and Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
These students can avail of laboratory and other academic facilities at the institute. The costs towards food and access to other amenities have to be borne by the student. Students have to submit a report of their work after completion of the internship. The institute will issue a ‘Training Completion Certificate’ to the students, but it will not award any grade for the work carried out by the interns during the programme.
