IIT Bombay PG & PhD Admission 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has released the schedule for admission to its various postgraduate (PG) and PhD programmes 2025-26. As per the schedule, the IIT Bombay PhD, MTech and MA courses application process will commence from March 25. Further, the academic session will start from July 2025.
IIT Bombay offers 10 degree programs, including PhD, MTech, and various research-focused options such as MS by Research in Computer Science and Engineering, Data Science and AI (CMInDs), and Healthcare Informatics. Other programs include the MTech + PhD dual degree, Master in Public Policy (MPP), MA + PhD dual degree in Philosophy (Humanities and Social Sciences), Master in Development Practice (MDP), and Master of Arts by Research (MA in Research).

IIT Bombay PG & PhD Admission 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates can check the IIT Bombay eligibility requirements for some of the courses below:
- PhD: Candidates must have a master's or bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, medicine, science, arts, commerce, or an MBA (with BTech/BE) to apply.
- MTech: Those having BE or BTech or BSc (engineering) or bachelor of architecture or bachelor of planning or MSc or MCA or MBBS (medicine) or BDS (dental), BPharma or BVSC, BPTH, BASLP, Pharma D (duration 4 years of more) are eligible.
- MTech + PhD (Dual Degree): Candidates eligible for MTech admission can also apply for the MTech + PhD dual degree in select disciplines. A common application is used for both, and those admitted to MTech will be considered for the dual degree if opted for in the application.
- Master in Public Policy (MPP): Candidates must have a two-year master's or a four-year bachelor's degree in arts, commerce, law (LLB), science, engineering, or medicine with the required minimum marks 55% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) for arts and commerce, and 60% (55% for SC/ST/PWD) for science, engineering, and medicine from a recognized institution.
IIT Bombay PG & PhD Admission 2025 Entrance Test
IIT Bombay will conduct the entrance test for its Master in Public Policy (MPP) program for the Autumn 2025-26 semester on May 6 in offline mode, followed by interviews for shortlisted candidates on May 7. For the IIT Bombay MA + PhD in Philosophy program, the written test will be held online in two sessions on May 3 and 4. Candidates who qualify will be required to attend an interview on May 6, 2025.
IIT Bombay offers admission to MSc course based on IIT JAM score followed by CCMN Counselling. The seat allotment is carried out based on document verification, seat intake, and category of the students, during the counselling. Besides, candidates with a valid bachelor’s degree issued by a recognised university are eligible for admission to the PG course.
