IIT Delhi Hosts STEM Mentorship Programme for Government School Girls
IIT Delhi has concluded summer phase of 5th batch of its Manasvi STEM Mentorship Programme. This offered hands-on learning in science, engineering, AI, biotechnology and leadership through interactive sessions and lab activities.
IIT Delhi STEM: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has concluded summer phase of 5th batch of its Manasvi STEM Mentorship Program for High School Girls. The aims to encourage more girls to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
This year, 120 girl students from Classes 9 to 12 participated in the programme. All participants were from government schools across Delhi-NCR region. This programme was organised by Office of Academic Outreach and New Initiatives at IIT Delhi.
IIT Delhi Encourages Girls to Pursue STEM Careers
During programme, students attended academic and leadership sessions led by IIT Delhi faculty members and senior women professionals working in STEM sectors. These sessions were designed to provide practical exposure and help students better understand scientific concepts and future career options. Each day started with informal interactions, followed by lectures, discussions and hands-on learning activities.
The inaugural session of programme began with an address by IIT Delhi Director Prof. Rangan Banerjee. He spoke about importance of improving female participation in STEM fields and highlighted instituteβs efforts in this direction. Encouraging students, Prof. Banerjee said that girls can excel in every field, including artificial intelligence, healthcare, engineering, construction, space technology and scientific research.
Students Built Solar Lamps and Learned About Electric Circuits
Students learned how electric circuits work and also built their own solar lamps during workshops.OnΒ concluding day, students visited Department of Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology at IIT Delhi. They participated in molecular biology experiments held in student-friendly manner. The lab sessions allowed participants to experience real scientific research environments.
