IIT Madras & IIT Kanpur professors conduct NPTEL online courses
NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning), a joint initiative of the IITs and IISc is offering two new online courses to students which are absolutely free of cost. Registrations for these new online courses commenced on September 1, 2014. Students who want to earn a certification need to pay a nominal fee to sit for the certification exam.
The first course on offer at NPTEL is called – Basic Electrical Circuits. The sessions for this course are being conducted by IIT Madras’s Dr Nagendra Krishnapura. The certification for this 12 week course will be offered by IIT Madras along with NASSCOM.
The second online course on offer is – Introduction to Programming in C. This course is being conducted by IIT Kanpur’s professor Dr Satyadev Nandakumar. The certification for this 10 week course will be given by IIT Kanpur as well as NASSCOM.
The portal offering IIT courses along the lines of MOOCs (massive open online courses) was launched in February this year. One of the first courses on offer was called 'Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms' and as part of it 1,150 certificates were awarded by IIT Madras along with NASSCOM.
