IIT Madras Zanzibar Introduces New UG Program in Chemical Process Engineering; Apply Till July 6

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Zanzibar has announced the launch of a four-year full-time Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Chemical Process Engineering for the Academic Year 2025–26. Open to candidates of all nationalities, including Indians, the program will be offered at the Zanzibar campus. The last date to apply is July 6, 2025. The screening tests for admission will be conducted on July 13, 2025, at Chennai, Zanzibar, and other designated locations. Also, the online interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place between July 25 to 31, 2025 and the academic session is scheduled to begin on October 6, 2025.
Who are eligible for IIT Madras Zanzibar BS Program in Chemical Process Engineering?
The eligibility criteria for applying to the BS Program in Chemical Process Engineering include completion of any one of the following qualifications: Class 12 or equivalent, Form VI, GCE Advanced Level, IB Diploma, or Cambridge AS & A Level. Applicants must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
The program features a comprehensive curriculum that integrates core chemical engineering principles with hands-on laboratory experience, industry-relevant projects, and interdisciplinary electives. It will be delivered by a distinguished faculty team from IIT Madras, IITM Zanzibar, and partner institutions, ensuring high academic standards and global relevance.

IIT Madras Zanzibar currently offers a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, a two-year Master of Technology degree in Data Science and AI, and an M.Tech in Ocean Structures. It is the first-ever international campus established by the Indian Institute of Technology. The inaugural academic year (2023–24) at IIT Madras Zanzibar began in October 2023.
To seek admission to the BTech programme offered at IIT Madras, candidates need to visit the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and fill out the application form in online mode for JEE Main. For other courses such as MSc, MTech, BS-MS (Dual Degree) etc., candidates must visit the official website of the respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies and fill out the application form in online mode. IIT Madras admission to most of the courses is entrance-based.
