IIT Tirupati MS(R) & PhD Programs Application Starts for July Session; GATE Score Not Mandatory

IIT Tirupati has opened applications for its MS(R) and PhD programs for the July session, with no mandatory requirement for a GATE score in some of the cases. Check dates and eligibility criteria here

IIT Tirupati MS(R) & PhD Programs Application

IIT Tirupati Admission 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati is accepting applications for MS(R) and PhD programs for admission to July session. Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements can fill out the IIT Tirupati MS(R) & PhD application form online at the official website: iittp.ac.in/admissions. The last date to fill out the IIT Tirupati MS(R) & PhD admission application form is April 9, 2025.

As of now, only last date to apply of IIT Tirupati MS(R) & PhD July admission dates have been announced. The complete schedule including the written test/interview, results etc will be released shortly at the official website only.

The IT Tirupati MS(R) & PhD admission is being accepted in these departments: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences, Mathematics & Statistics, Mechanical Engineering and Physics.

IIT Tirupati MS(R) & PhD Programs Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for MS(R) & PhD programs are different. Candidates can check the eligibility for both the programs below:

IIT Tirupati MS(R) Eligibility

• Bachelor’s Degree Holders: Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master's degree (M.Sc/MCA, etc.) in a relevant discipline with a valid GATE score.
• Professional Body Membership: Candidates with an Associate membership who have successfully completed both Part A and Part B of the examination conducted by professional bodies such as The Institution of Engineers (India) (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical and Electronics/Electronics and Communications) or The Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, with a strong academic record and a valid GATE score.
• IIT Graduates: Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology from any IIT, possessing an excellent academic record in an eligible discipline, with a minimum CGPA of 8/10 (or 7.5 for EWS/OBC-NCL and 7.0 for SC/ST/PwD).

Note: A valid GATE score is not required for candidates applying under the external, part-time, or internal category.

IIT Tirupati PhD Eligibility

• Eligible qualifications include an M.E./M.Tech./MS(R) in Engineering, a five-year integrated Master’s degree in Engineering or B.Tech + M.Tech Dual Degree, a five-year integrated degree or B.S + M.S from a CFTI, or a Master’s degree in Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, or Management from IITs with a minimum CGPA of 8.0/10 (7.5 for EWS/OBC-NCL and 7.0 for SC/ST/PwD).
• Candidates must hold a Master's degree in relevant Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, or Management from a recognized university/institute, along with a valid National Level Eligibility Test (NLET) qualification such as GATE, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, NBHM, INSPIRE, JEST, or an equivalent test valid at the time of admission.

Candidates without a National Level Eligibility Test (NLET) can apply for a PhD if they meet one of the following criteria:

• Work Experience: Candidates with more than five years of relevant experience after obtaining their Master's degree.
• CFI Graduates: Candidates with a Master's degree from a Centrally Funded Institute (CFI) other than IITs, with a minimum CGPA of 8.0/10 (or 7.5 for EWS/OBC-NCL and 7.0 for SC/ST/PwD).
• International Examination: Candidates who have qualified in an international-level postgraduate admission examination such as the GRE.

A four-year Bachelor's degree from a Centrally Funded Technical Institute (CFTI) with a minimum CGPA of 8.0/10 (or 7.5 for EWS/OBC-NCL and 7.0 for SC/ST/PwD). A four-year Bachelor's degree from a recognized university/institute with a minimum CGPA of 7.0/10 (or 6.5 for EWS/OBC-NCL and 6.0 for SC/ST/PwD), along with a valid GATE score at the time of admission. (Note: Candidates meeting the educational qualifications specified in points 4 and 5 will be eligible for direct admission to the MS(R) + PhD program.)
