JEE Advanced 2014: Shortlisting criteria of candidates

The results of JEE Main 2014 Paper- 1 were declared around 11 pm on May 2, 2014.  To check your results, click on the above link.

For JEE Advanced 2014, the top 1.5 lakh candidates from all categories will be shortlisted on the basis on their scores in Paper-1. The cut-off marks in Common Merit List (CML), each category and Persons with Disability (PwD) subcategories will be declared soon.

According to the official notification, “The distribution across categories will be as per the Government of India directive. OBC-NCL: 27%, SC: 15%, ST:7.5% and the rest 50.5% will be from the Common Merit List (CML) that includes all category candidates. Example: Total number of candidates from CML will be 75750 plus the number of candidates having the same score as the last candidate. Identical rule is followed for reserved category candidates in finalizing the number. Each category will include the PwD subcategory of 3% and the final number will be adjusted accordingly.”

Before short listing for JEE Advanced 2014, the ineligible candidates will be removed. The criteria for removing candidates are: 

  • Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination in 2012 or earlier;
  • Candidates who have attempted IIT-JEE in 2012 or earlier;
  • Candidates who are born earlier than the stipulated date of birth
  • Candidates, who, appeared in IIT-JEE in 2012 or earlier but have not volunteered the information while registering for JEE (Main) 2014 (Click here to see the list of such students)
