JEE Main 2016 offline exam is all set to commence today, April 3, 2016. This year, as many as 12, 50,000 lakh students are expected to take both the offline (pen and paper) as well as the online exam (computer based). The exam is scheduled to begin from 9:30 am. Number of applications for JEE Main 2016 drop by 1 lakh!

JEE Main 2016 offline exam will be held in two parts – Paper 1 and Paper 2. While Paper 1 will be held from 9:30 and 12: 30 pm for B.Tech admissions, Paper 2 will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm will be conducted for B.Arch admissions.

JEE Main 2016 Live Updates

12:50 pm: Students speak to shiksha and share their feedback about the JEE Main 2016 oflline exam. Though we got a mixed reaction about the exam, a lot of students shared the overall difficulty level of the exam was easy but mathematics was the toughest section of the paper. 12:40 pm: Aspirants start coming out of the exam center. Many of them are still waiting near the entrance of the exam hall to collect their belongings.

12:30 pm: JEE Main 2016 offline exam (Paper 1) concludes.

9:30 am: JEE Main 2016 offline exam has commenced.

9: 27 am: Its three minutes before the exam. And parents are helping other students who have entered the centre late locate their roll numbers and rooms. Some students are still reaching the exam center.

9:10 am: Parents are starting to leave the premises.

8:50 am: The entry to JEE Main 2016 exam center has commenced. Students have lined up in a queue outside the test center. From this year, to curb students from using unfair means in the examination, CBSE has made it's frisking methods tougher by introducing 8000 metal detectors. So, before entering the examination hall, aspirants are requirded to undetgo this process.

8:40 am: Most of the parents accompanying their kids to this exam center are still waiting outside the center. The entry to the exam hall is expected to commence soon.

8:35 am: Many students are dropping in late along with their parents at the exam center.

8:30 am: Most of the students we spoke to said that - for their preparations for JEE Main 2016 - they did not depend on any coahing institute. Self-study was the only way they prepared for the exam.

8:20 am: Shiksha.com speak to students to get an idea about their preparation and exam strategy.

8:10 am: Students start checking their roll numbers and rooms alotted from the notice board just outside the exam center.

8:00 am: Meanwhile, Shiksha.com reporters visited another center in Delhi where over 300 JEE Main aspirants are taking the exam.

7:52 am: The continuous arrival of students at this JEE Main 2016 test center has led to a traffic jam just outside army base.

7:51 am: Amongst a lot of chaos and confusion, we were informed that to help students reach the JEE Main 2016 exam center, the army officials would allocate a bus to the aspirants which they would be required to board to reach the center.

7:50 am: On speaking to students, Shiksha found out that no one - be it the JEE Main 2016 aspirants, their parents or their guardians are allowed to go anywhere near the the exam center.

7:45 am: Since, the exam center is an army base, students are not allowed to go near or enter the base but wait on the main road.

7:40 am: Students awaiting entry for JEE Main which will begin soon.
