JEE Main 2026 Begins Today: When to Reach & What to Carry at NTA Exam Centre
JEE Main 2026 exam is being held in two shifts today. Candidates must check and carry their JEE Main admit card when going to exam centre. Check when to reach and what to carry here
JEE Main Exam: National Testing Agency will be conducting Joint Entrance Examination Mains 2026 from today, January 21, 2026. This time, session 1 exam will be held on January 21, 22, 23 and January 24, 2026 in computer-based format. Candidates must carry their JEE Main downloaded admit card, two passport-size photographs and any one valid photo ID proof.
It must be noted that candidates who did not register through Aadhaar or chose authentication through non-Aadhaar option must report early on day of the exam (at least 1 hour before gate closing time) to get their biometrics recorded at JEE Main exam centre. They must also bring their own Geometry box set, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons.

When to Reach at JEE Main 2026 Exam Centre?
As per NTA instructions, candidates should reach their allotted centre at least 90 minutes before exam to complete verification and frisking procedures. Biometric authentication, document checking and security screening may take time due to the large number of candidates. JEE Main 2026 is being conducted in two shifts each day.
- Morning Shift: 9 AM to 12:00 Noon
- Afternoon Shift: 3 to 6 PM
Candidates must reach exam centre well in advance, as entry gates generally close 30 to 45 minutes before exam begins. Late entry is not permitted under any circumstances. Check table to know when to reach NTA JEE Main centre

What to Carry at JEE Main Exam Centre 2026?
JEE Main admit card is mandatory for entry into exam hall. Candidates must also carry
- A printed copy of JEE Main admit card downloaded from official website
- One passport-size photograph, same as uploaded in the application form
- A valid original photo ID proof Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, Driving Licence or School ID
Electronic gadgets, calculators, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, notes, study material, wallets, handbags, and food items are strictly prohibited inside the exam centre.
Important Advice for JEE Main Candidates
NTA has urged candidates to follow all instructions carefully, maintain discipline and cooperate with centre staff. Aspirants are also advised to manage time during the exam and read questions carefully before answering.
