National Testing Agency is expected to soon release detailed JEE Main 2026 syllabus and exam pattern along with notification in October. Recently, NTA also launched JEE Main 2026 official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in. JEE Main syllabus PDF and exam pattern will also be available on this website. Through JEE Main exam pattern and syllabus details, candidates will get information about number of questions, negative marking rules, durations, etc.
JEE Main notice dated September 29 confirms that engineering entrance exam will be held in regular bi-annual format. Like last few years, JEE Main will be held in January and April 2026. JEE Main detailed notification and registration link will be available in October 2025.
JEE Main 2026 Syllabus and Exam Pattern Details Release Date
Official JEE Main notification 2026 with detailed syllabus and exam pattern is expected will be released in October 2025. The exact date for JEE Main 2026 will be announced later at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Those applying for JEE Main, must get mandatory documents such as Aadhar Card, UDID Card and Caste Certificate updated.
Will there be any changes in JEE Main 2026 Syllabus and Exam Pattern?
As per some media reports, JEE Main exam pattern 2026 will be same as of 2025 pattern. Some changes made in 2025 are expected to continue this year too. JEE Main exam is conducted for 3 papers, Paper 1, Paper 2A, and Paper 2B. The JEE Main syllabus 2026 is expected to remain same based on Class 11 and 12 NCERT chapters from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Till official JEE Main notification 2026 is not released, candidates can check JEE Main syllabus 2025 for reference.
Last year, NTA shifted to no optional questions in Section B (numerical questions). Also, JEE Main marking scheme modifications (negative marking for wrong answers) in more parts of the exam was also introduced and may continue.

JEE Main 2026 exam pattern has been released by the NTA. As per exam pattern, the JEE Main Paper 1 (BE/B.Tech) exam will consist of 75 questions, 25 each from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Out of 25 questions, 20 will be MCQs and 5 will be NAV. Students need to answer all 75 questions. JEE Main paper 2A for B.Arch consists of 77 questions of which 25 are from Mathematics, 50 from General Aptitude and 2 from Drawing. In Paper 2B for BPlan total questions are 100 of which 25 are from Mathematics, 50 from General Aptitude and 25 from Planning.
The question paper will have no internal choices within questions and total duration of exam is 3 hours.
Numerical value questions have numerical value or integer in answer. You will get 4 Marks for a correct answer, and -1 is deducted for an incorrect answer. If you don't solve a question, you will get zero marks.

The exam pattern of JEE Main 2026 has not been announced yet. As per the current exam pattern, the Paper 1 exam has 75 questions, 25 each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. In Paper 2A and 2B, the total number of questions are 77 and 100, respectively. The total marks of JEE Main Paper 1 is 300, for Paper 2A and 2B its 400.
