JEE Main 2026 Application Process

This year, the registration procedure for JEE Main has been divided into three major steps: Registration, Application Form, and Fee Payment.

1. Registration Form

Candidates must first register on the official JEE Main portal to generate a system-generated Application Number. During registration, they will need to create a password, choose a security question, and provide personal details. The same Application Number will remain valid for both sessions of JEE Main 2026, making future logins easier.

2. Application Form

Applicants can log in using their Application Number and Password to complete the detailed application form.

They will need to:

  • Fill in personal and academic details
  • Choose exam cities
  • Upload documents and live photographs

For the first time, NTA has made uploading a live photograph mandatory, which candidates can capture directly using a webcam or mobile camera by scanning a QR code.

Any tampering or uploading of incorrect documents will be treated as Unfair Means (UFM). NTA has also urged students to ensure their Aadhaar details are updated before applying.

While the brochure specifies that candidates can use other modes of identity proof apart from Aadhar/Digilocker. However, there is no option to select those under the identity details section of the form.

3. Fee Payment

There are no changes to the JEE Main registration fee this year. Candidates can pay the fee online using Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. The processing charges and GST will apply and have to be borne by the candidate. Once the payment is successful, candidates should download the Confirmation Page as proof of submission.

Key Highlights of the New Registration Guidelines
