JNTU, Osmania University increase fee for engineering courses
The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) has increased fee for regular BTech courses from Rs 18,000 to Rs 35,000, while for self-finance courses, the fee has been increased from Rs 35,000 to Rs 70,000.
JNTU and Osmania University (OU) have increased fee for traditional BTech and self-finance courses. The JNTU has increased fee for regular BTech courses from Rs 18,000 to Rs 35,000, while for self-finance courses, the fee has been increased from Rs 35,000 to Rs 70,000. In addition to the JNTU Hyderabad, the increased fees will be implemented at JNTU’s affliated institutions at Manthani, Sultanpur, Jagittala, and Siricilla as well, the JNTU said.
The fee increase will also be applicable at OU College of Engineering. The fee for the artificial intelligence course starting from this academic year at OU has been fixed at Rs 1.20 lakh. However, Kakatiya and Mahatma Gandhi varsities did not increase fees.
The Department of Education gave permission to universities in July to increase fees. The OU College of Engineering has fixed the artificial intelligence and machine language course fee at Rs 1.2 lakh per annum and the BTech (Mining Engineering) fee at Rs 1 lakh per annum.
However, students and their parents were shocked to see a steep hike in annual engineering fee as there was no intimation from the Telangana government.
JNTU, Hyderabad, was founded in 1965. Previously, it was known as Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College. The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Act converted the educational institute into a university in 1972. It offers MBA, MCA, BTech, MTech, BPharmacy, MPharmacy, MS, MPhil and PhD degree programmes.
