The Joint Seat Allocation Authority will release the counselling round 1 allotment result tomorrow, June 13. As soon as the seat is allotted, online reporting starts. This includes:
- Seat allotment fee (SAF) payment
- Document upload
- Response by the candidate toΒ queries
After JoSAA seat allotment, candidates must decide whether toΒ Freeze, Float, or Slide their allotted seat. Understanding rank movement trends and upgrade possibilities can help you make an informed choice before the next round.
What to Do After JoSAA Seat Allotment 2026
The candidates will have the following choices against the seat allotted to them:
- If the allotted seat matches the expectations, select "freeze"
- If upgradation is needed, candidates can do so by selecting "float" or "freeze"
Explaining "freeze", "float", and "slide"
Freeze: Choosing "freeze" means the candidate are 100% satisfied with the college and the branch they have been given. Furthermore, they do not want to participate in any upcoming rounds of counselling.
Float: Selecting "float" will mean accepting the allotted current seat, but the candidate wants to check if they can get a betterΒ choice in future rounds. This "better choice" can be any higher preference from the preference list that candidates had locked in the choice filling process.
Slide: Choosing the option "slide" will indicate that the candidate accepts the current seat, but they only want a branch upgradeΒ within the same college. Means, the candidate likes the college allotted, but wants a better course from their preference list in the same college. But note that here is a big restriction. This option is only useful, if the choice list of the candidate has same college with different courses listed in the higher order.
Accepting Seat by Paying SAF is Mandatory After JoSAA Seat Allotment
Whether you freeze, float or slide, the allotted seat must be accepted within the stipulated deadline. Therefore, as soon as the seat is allotted in any round of JoSAA 2026, candidates should pay the SAF, participate in online reporting and complete all formalities to stay in the counselling process.
