JoSAA Counselling 2025 First Mock Allotment TODAY at josaa.nic.in; How to Check and What Next

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will announce the JoSAA 2025 counselling first mock allotment result today. As the name suggests, it is a 'MOCK' allotment, which means it is just a trial allotment based on the choices saved by the candidates by June 8, 8 pm. The trial allotment means it is not the final allotment and is just for the reference of the candidates. Note that the allotment made after the mock allotment is subject to change as JoSAA registration and choice filling is still open until June 12. Many candidates will still be registering and entering their choices in the counselling portal. The final choice locking deadline is June 12, after which the JoSAA counselling final seat allotment will be done for round 1 on June 14.

Before the final seat allotment for round 1, another round of mock allotment will be done on June 11 based on the choices filled by candidates as of June 10 by 5 pm.

What to Do After JoSAA 2025 Counselling First Allotment?

Here are some tips on what you can do after the first mock seat allotment:

  • Check which institute and branch you were allotted.
  • Compare it with your actual preferences.
  • Understand where your current choices place you among others.
  • Got your desired seat? You can retain your choices or make minor tweaks.
  • Didn’t get what you expected? Consider:
    • Reordering choices (put higher preferences at the top).
    • Adding safer options (lower cutoff institutes/branches).
    • Removing options you're no longer interested in.
  • Avoid leaving large rank gaps between choices.
  • Also, check the second mock allotment result that will be out on June 11. Analyse that the changes made after the first mock allotment worked in your favour. If not, refine your preference list a bit more.

This year, JoSAA counselling will be completed in six rounds. The admission to IITs will be based on JEE Advanced 2025 ranks, and for NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other GFTIs, allotments will be done based on JEE Main 2025 ranks.
