MHT CET 2026: Shiksha Poll Reveals PCM Group Remains Top Choice for Most Aspirants
Shiksha recently conducted a poll asking MHT CET 2026 aspirants about their subject group preference. The results of the poll are out now. Check below for insights on the MHT CET competition level for PCM and PCB groups.
Shiksha regularly conducts polls on MHT CET exam 2026 to understand the current mindset of aspirants and for insights on the exam and admission process by interacting with the students first-hand. Our most recent poll was on 'Which course groups students are applying for?' More than 4.1K students participated in the poll. The results of the poll highlight that students who are applying for MHT CET 2026 have a clear preference for the course group. A clear majority of aspirants (57% voters) are applying for the PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) group. This suggests that most students are focused on engineering and technology-related undergraduate programmes through MHT CET.

The student poll revealed the following preferences:
- PCM only: 57%
- Only PCB: 28%
- Both PCM and PCB: 8%
- Have not decided yet: 7%
Engineering Remains the Top Choice
A high percentage of students are opting for PCM, which shows greater interest and demand for engineering admissions through MHT CET 2026, for courses such as BTech, BE, and related technical programmes. Meanwhile, 28% of students choose only PCB for admission to pharmacy, agriculture and life science-related courses. Only 8% of students plan to register for both PCM and PCB. The poll also shows that 7% of students have not yet decided which course group they will register for.

The syllabus of MHT CET is similar to class 11 and 12 however not all the topics of class 11 are covered in MHT CET. As per the official syllabus released by the Maharashtra CET Cell, only some topics of class 11 are covered in MHT CET and all the topics of class 12 are covered. Students can download the official MHT CET syllabus from Shiksha page or from the CET website.
The syllabus of MHT CET is not similar to the Maharashtra Board class 11 and 12. Only a few chapters of Class 11 are covered in MHT CET syllabus. However, the entire class 12 syllabus is part of MHT CET syllabus. Also, the dificulty level of MHT CET is similar to JEE Mains.
DY Patil University, Pune is relatively more preferable as far as B.Tech in AI & Data Science is concerned. It has better university level NIRF ranking (approximately 63 rd ranking in all) and NAAC A + + ratings. B.Tech Median Salary at both universities is good at about INR 4.2 Lacs LPA (reported the highest is INR 52 Lacs LPA overall across all engineering disciplines or INR 12 Lacs LPA at the particular university regarding BBA with some students in B.Tech AI and DS places at INR 8-11 Lacs lpa). Thakur College too has decent ranking but on the lower side and average B.Tech package is INR 5.14 LPA on the whole. DY Patil provides superior general acceptance and cutthroat arrangements with regards to AI & Data Science.

Maharashtra State CET Cell will endΒ MHT CET registrationΒ tomorrow, February 12, 2026. Candidates who are yet to completeΒ MHT CET 2026 registration must complete the application form by visiting official website cetcell.mahacet.org. However, they can payΒ MHT CET application feesΒ till February 13. Applicants have to choose their subject group and the number of attempts for exam when fillingΒ MHT CET 2026 application form.Β
