The proposed 50:50 weightage rule for class 12 board marks and MHT CET scores may not be implemented for the 2027 admission cycle unless the authorities finalises the policy in time. Why Implementation of 50:50 Rule in MHT CET 2027 Remains Uncertain?
The Maharashtra government constituted a five-member committee to examine the proposal to include class 12 marks in the merit lists for undergraduate engineering and pharmacy admissions.Β The committee is expected to consider when the revised system can be introduced. This decision should be communicated in time to allow students to prepare for both exams. For now, the authorities have not announced any fixed percentage for the admission criteria.
The proposed change could affect how students divide their preparation time between class 12 boards and MHT CET. Currently, board marks are considered for eligibility while, only the candidate's performance in MHT CET is considered to prepare the merit list.
To implement the new policy, the authorities will have to factor in enough preparation time to ensure students do not miss out on the opportunity. If there is any further delay in the communication of the change then it can be assumed that the policy will apply in future, excluding this year's admission process.
