NIT Calicut student jumps off hostel building, dies
Nidhin Sharma, a BTech electrical engineering student, had sent a WhatsApp message to his friends saying he was going to commit suicide.
A second-year electrical engineering student of the National Institute of Technology-Calicut (NIT-C) was found dead on the campus on Wednesday morning. Nidhin Sharma, 22, was a resident of West Bengal. He reportedly jumped off a multi-storeyed hostel building.
The reason for the death is yet to be known. Nidhin had sent a WhatsApp message to his friends saying he was going to commit suicide. The police have registered a case and initiated investigation. The body has been shifted to the mortuary of Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, for the post-mortem examination.
Recently, an 18-year-old girl student of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) in Surat, allegedly died by suicide at the college hostel. The deceased, Devanshi Ishwarbhai Palave, a first-year civil engineering student at SVNIT college, was a native of Dang district in Gujarat.
