NIT Rourkela Placements 2024-25: 1274 Offers, Highest Package at ₹62.44 LPA

NIT Rourkela placements 2024-25: As many as 1274 offers made, highest CTC ₹62.44 LPA, average B.Tech ₹14.10 LPA. Top recruiters include Google, Amazon, Qualcomm.

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has concluded its 2024-25 placement drive securing 1274 job offers along with 509 six-month internships that carry strong prospects of conversion into Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs). Institute's placement outcomes remain strong despite global economic slowdown and layoffs across industries, reflecting resilience of NIT Rourkela students in a competitive job market.

This year, institute recorded a highest CTC of ₹62.44 lakh per annum, while average salary stood at ₹14.10 LPA for the B.Tech program and ₹13.48 LPA for the M.Tech program. The highest internship stipend touched ₹1.26 lakh per month. More than 85 students received packages exceeding ₹30 lakh per annum.

The B.Tech programs achieved 82.20 percent placements overall, with certain departments touching near-complete recruitment. Ceramic Engineering recorded 97.73 percent placements, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering achieved 97.06 percent, while Computer Science and Engineering stood at 94.48 percent. Other branches, including Electronics and Communication, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, and Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, also secured more than 80 percent placements, underlining the institute’s consistent performance across disciplines.

According to Prof. Surajit Das, Head of the Career Development Centre, the Software and IT sector dominated placements with 22.9 percent share, followed by Manufacturing at 12.4 percent, BFSI at 11.1 percent, Education at 10.8 percent, Power and Heavy Industries at 8.1 percent, and Oil & Gas at 6.1 percent. He also noted that emerging domains such as aerospace, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing are beginning to contribute to the institute’s placement profile.

Recruiter participation was also good this year, with 373 companies taking part in placement drive, of which nearly 48 percent were first-time recruiters. The majority of companies came from the Software and IT Services sector, followed by Manufacturing, BFSI, Electronics, Education, Power & Heavy Industries, and Oil & Gas. In terms of job profiles, students were hired as Software Engineers, Software Development Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Graduate Trainee Engineers, Data Analysts, and Business Analysts.
