Robots perform pooja at VIT Vellore

Students and faculty members of School of Mechanical Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), performed Ayudha pooja in a unique way this year. They used two six-axled robots for the celebrations.
While one of the robots rang the ceremonial bell, the other performed ‘aarti’. The staff in the department can be seen in the background offering prayers. A 30-second video of the event, which went viral on social media, was a hit among netizens. Currently, the two robots, Fanuc M-6iB and RJ3iC, are being used to teach students of mechanical engineering. However, on the occasion of Ayudha pooja, they were used to assist the staff conduct the ceremonies.
VIT recently organised a three-day technological festival graVITas. During the festival, 140 events were held with more than 13,000 students from various colleges and deemed universities from across the country participating. The creativity and ingenuity of students from various streams of engineering, such as mechanical, electronics and electrical and communication, were on display at the event.
VIT conducts VITEEE every year to provide admission to the students in Bachelor of Technology under different participating institutions. Admission is provided on different campuses at VIT Chennai, Amravati, Vellore, and Bhopal. VITEEE 2022 was held from June 30 to July 6. The entrance exam results were released on July 8. VIT Vellore offers 66 undergraduate, 58 postgraduate, 15 integrated and two research and MTech (industrial) courses across streams, including engineering, science, business studies, management, computer science, architecture, design, mass communication, commerce, hotel management and visual communication.
