Gujarat government has announced that it will conduct special semester exams for students in the containment zone in August or September.

Gujarat Education Department has announced that it will be conducting special semester exams for college students who are in the containment zone in August or September. The marks of these special exams will, however, be reflected as regular marks in the students' mark sheets.

The state education department took this decision through a government resolution (GR).

“For all those students who have returned to their native states or even outside the country will not be required to travel back for the examinations. For such students, online exams will be conducted… In universities like Gujarat technological University and Gujarat University where students are enrolled from across the state and stay in the hostel for their studies, examination centre will be set up in each district for the students,” the GR stated.

All those students who are in intermediate semesters 2, 4 and 6, and will be promoted on the merit-based progression, the education department said their fees will be adjusted to the coming semester's examination fee.

On May 29, the education department conducted an online meeting with the Vice-chancellors of state Universities which was chaired by the Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama.

As per another GR, all the universities in the state have been asked to make arrangements for the complete online admission process and do the verification of documents once the situation gets better. Instructions were also issued to all colleges affiliated to state universities to conduct online academic works for semesters 3, 5, and 7 from June 21.
