Jammu and Kashmir government has said that all the degree colleges falling in the summer zone will observe one-month summer vacations from June 5.

Jammu government has announced that all its degree colleges falling in summer zones of Jammu and Kashmir will have one-month summer vacations from June 5. 

โ€œAll government degree colleges of the Union Territory of J&K (in summer zone) shall observe summer vacations with effect from June 5 to July 5," said Talat Parvez Rohella, Secretary Higher Education Department. 

Director Colleges in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department have been directed to hold wider consultations at their respective institutional level with students, parents and other stakeholders on the reopening of colleges and submit a report with their recommendation with the respective nodal principals latest by June 5.

"The respective nodal principals shall, on the basis of reports received from the Principals of their respective divisions, prepare a brief one-page report for submission to this office within June 6 for further consolidation and onward presentation to the Administrative Department,โ€ he said.

He further said that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has given a weekโ€™s time to the states and UTs for taking a final decision about the opening of educational institutions after wider consultations at an institutional level with parents and other stakeholders.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has also denied taking any decision on reopening schools on June 15.

Meanwhile, the Haryana government has said that schools in the state will reopen in July in phased manner, starting with classes 10-12, followed by classes 6-9 & 1-5. For social distancing, schools function at 50% strength. In a class of 30 students, 15 will come in the morning & 15 in the evening or alternate days.
