WBJEE 2025 Result: SC/ST/OBC declaration facility to end today; merit list expected tomorrow

WBJEE 2025 reservation declaration facility will close today, i.e., August 21, 2025 (11:59 PM). Through the online facility, the candidates can declare their SC/ST/OBC category details for the WBJEE 2025 result. As per the HC directive, the WBJEE 2025 merit list is expected tomorrow. West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) will close the SC/ST/OBC declaration facility for WBJEE 2025 today, i.e., August 21, 2025, at 11:59 PM. Candidates can log in at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee using their application number, roll number and date of birth to access the online facility to declare the details of their reservation category. Once logged in, the candidates will have to mention their respective caste/tribe/community names and upload the respective certificates. After the final date, the authorities will not accept any requests to make changes in their reservation category, which will be referred to while preparing the WBJEE 2025 result.

Is the WBJEE 2025 merit list expected tomorrow?

As per the Calcutta High Court directive, WBJEEB is expected to prepare the WBJEE merit list 2025 by tomorrow, i.e., August 22, 2025. The new merit list has to follow the 7% OBC reservation policy, recognised by the West Bengal Backwards Classes Department before 2010. However, there may be chances that the merit list is not released tomorrow, as the reservation declaration facility is ending today, i.e., August 21, 2025. To prepare the reservation merit list, the authorities may require more time, so the merit list and WBJEE 2025 result declaration may be delayed until next week.

WBJEE 2025 Result Delay: Why was the WBJEEB merit list rejected?

On August 7, 2025, the Calcutta High Court rejected the merit list prepared by WBJEEB, citing it as “erroneous and unsustainable”. The court believed that the WBJEE merit list was prepared by the board in clear violation of the court’s order passed on May 21, 2025, i.e., by providing reservations to the OBC candidates in terms of the new policy. Therefore, the court ordered the board to prepare a new merit list within 15 days, i.e., by August 22, 2025, following the old policy.
