GATE 2022: India is now witnessing a steep surge in COVID-19 and Omicron cases since the first day of the New Year. It is now forcing students to think that, will the GATE 2022 postponed. The exam is scheduled to be conducted on February 5, 6, 12 and 13, 2022. Postponing the release of the GATE 2022 admit card without announcing any new dates for it, the chances of deferring the GATE exam has also been increased.

The admit card was scheduled to be released on January 7, 2022. However, IIT Kharagpur has postponed the release of the GATE admit card till any further notice. Moreover, cases of COVID-19 are rising at a larger rate in the country. India recorded over 1.1 lakh new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, higher than recorded in June last year, and the cases of the Omicron variant has risen to 3,007. In view of the last two years’ trend, it is very much expected that the GATE 2022 and other exams may also get postponed to avoid the spreading of infection.

However, all students must note that the exam conducting authority has NOT released any notification for GATE 2022 postponed. In case of any such information, the same will be updated here immediately. Authorities are going to release the GATE 2022 admit card today for all the successfully registered candidates.

As the exam is scheduled in February, IIT Kharagpur will take decisions regarding GATE 2022 postponement a week before the exam that too after assessing the then situation. All information or notifications will be released on the official website i.e. gate.iitkgp.ac.in only. Students must not fall prey to false information and they must check the official website before considering anything final.

IIT Kharagpur has already released the branch-wise GATE 2022 exam dates. Like last year, two days, February 4 and 11 are assigned for various miscellaneous activities. These activities include preparation of exam centre by sanitising the entire premises, displaying posters, signboard, seating arrangements etc. Students can also visit the GATE exam centres on these dates. GATE 2022 exam will be conducted in two shifts: Forenoon shift from 9 am to 12 pm and Afternoon shift from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
