Ex-Agniveers to get 10% reservation in CISF jobs: Home Ministry

The Union Home Ministry has announced a reservation of 10 per cent for former Agniveers in vacancies in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Earlier, the Ministry had also notified them about the similar quota for them in the BSF. 

The Home Ministry has also notified relaxation in the upper age limit on the basis that whether they are part of the first batch or subsequent batches of Agniveers. The announcement regarding the same was made through an official notification after amending the rules made under the Central Industrial Security Force Act, 1968.

"Ten per cent of the vacancies shall be reserved for ex-Agniveers. The upper age limit shall be relaxable up to five years for candidates of the first batch of former Agniveers and up to three years for candidates of other batches, the ministry said. Ex-Agniveers will also be exempted from the physical efficiency test," the notification said.

On June 14, 2022, the Central government unveiled the Agnipath scheme for the recruitment of youths aged between 17-and-a-half and 21 in the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, largely on a four-year short-term contractual basis. All those who will be recruited under the scheme will be called Agniveers.
