Gangs of Prayagraj: 35 school students including 27 minors arrested

The police investigation into six crude bomb blasts in Prayagraj has led to the crime involving teenagers mostly minor children studying in the prestigious schools of the city. The bomb explosions occurred outside schools and shops in the city and were reportedly executed to create a sensation.

As many as 35 students including minors have been sent behind the bars. Eight adult students were sent to jail and 27 minors to juvenile homes, as reported by TOI.

Police authorities are considering invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against adult students. The police have taken the social media accounts of all 10 groups formed on Instagram under the scanner and asked the parents to counsel their wards.

"We are also planning to invoke National Security Act (NSA) against the adult students who had allegedly hurled crude bombs on shops as some of the cases were even registered under section 307 of IPC. Till now, a total of 35 students have been sent behind the bars, including eight adult students in Naini Central Jail," said SSP (Prayagraj) Shailesh Kumar Pandey.

"The social media cell of the district police is maintaining a strict watch on the activities of students on their social media accounts and checking their uploaded videos, messages and chats. Videos are being scanned to identify more students involved in the bomb blasts. We have appealed to the management of the city schools to keep a close eye on the activities of the students, particularly those who bunk classes, and take action accordingly."
