The university has not issued any notification regarding the reopening of the hostel, and canteen.

Dr B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi, also known as AUD has announced to reopen its campus in a phased manner from December 22. The University was closed when the second wave of Coronavirus pandemic struck in March this year.

The AUD administration has released a notice yesterday, December 20, stating that the campus will reopen in a phased manner from December 22 to December 25 and that full reopening will commence from next week, December 27.

Students unions have claimed this decision as a victory as they have been demanding for reopening of the campus for long claiming that online learning was not beneficial to them.

β€œThis is a huge victory for the students and the continuous struggle that the students have undertaken,” claimed left backed students association, Students Federation of India (SFI).

However, there are still a lot of issues that have not been mentioned in the email, such as the reopening of the hostel, and canteen.

The students are claiming it as a victory and stated in a statement: β€œIt should also be brought to the notice of the student community that this notice came only after AUDSC’s call for a protest, and it is a tactical way to avoid any disruption during the convocation so as to not bring any bad press to the administration. Hypocritically, the Registrar, Proctor, and a few other members of the administration screamed at SFI activists about the campus being reopened when we were making posters for the protest tomorrow. We were promptly asked to leave the now β€œreopened” campus, simply for sitting peacefully.”

β€œWe also take into account the pattern of false promises made by the administration and hence our struggle will not stop until the campus is completely opened,” AUDSC stated.
