This year, Delhi University is planning to keep the fee amount of OBC students equal to the fee amount of general students. Students, calling this step unjust are asking for a fee rollback.

The Delhi University admissions 2020 started with online registration for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses on June 20, 2020, and the last date to apply is until July 4. While the DU Admission 2020 is on, a student's body raised a question on the varsity to roll-back the fee hike which is implemented for OBC students only calling it β€œunjust”.

According to the reports, DU hiked the fee for both undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. The application fee hike is not taken positively by the OBC category candidates as they are planning a campaign at a wider level. According to reports, students are planning a mass mail campaign against the latest application fee hike. The campaign will talk about the challenges that an OBC candidate faces and how it is difficult to sustain with the fee hike.

According to the past trend, the Delhi University charges Rs 100 as the application fee from OBC and other reserved category students for UG courses.

However, this year, the university is planning to charge the fee equal to the general candidates’ fee amount. Therefore, like a general category candidate, OBC, and other reserved category candidates would have to pay Rs 700 as compared to Rs 300/- which is charged for reserved category candidates.

Students, calling this step unjust are asking for a fee rollback. Various media reports suggest 57,312 candidates registered on the University of Delhi online portal for DU admission 2020 to undergraduate courses, while 18,837 students registered for postgraduate courses and 2,071 registered for PhD admissions within 24 hours after the Delhi University admission portal went live.

The admission to several UG, PG and PhD courses is based on the performance Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET). Candidates can also complete the DUET 2020 Registration on the official website of the University.
