The decision covers around 11,000 students studying in more than 80 postgraduate programmes.

Delhi University has decided to promote all postgraduate students of 2024-25 batch to second year, even if they missed or did not clear their first-year exams. DU has said that it was necessary as it is overhauling its PG course structure from next academic session.

This decision will impact around 11,000 students from more than 80 postgraduate programmes. DU is bringing in a new academic system, PGCF-2025, which will change how courses, credits and assessments are done, as reported by ToI.

To avoid delays while shifting to new format varsity administration has allowed current batch to move to next semester without waiting for their pending results.

Students will be able to join Semester 3 classes as usual while completing their earlier exams side by side. DU has also said that overall time limit to finish degree will stay same, and students will have to meet all requirements within existing period.

Various departments have been asked to share updated schedules and guide students through this transition.
