JMI Admission 2026: Students Demand Release of Waiting List, Seek Transparency in Admission Process

JMI Admission 2026 is under discussion after students raised concerns about the non-release of waiting lists for various courses. Student representatives have asked the university to publish a waiting list for tracking admission chances and seat availability.

Jamia Millia Islamia admission process has become a topic of discussion among students after non-publication of waiting lists. JMI has already released entrance examination results, cut-offs and lists of selected candidates for several courses. But absence of waiting lists has created uncertainty about admission. Waiting lists were commonly published by Jamia Millia Islamia university yearly for candidates willing to get admission if seats became vacant.

The issue has gained attention as thousands of students are willing to get admission in the university. JMI has introduced several new programmes and extended admission deadline this year. 

Why Are Students Seeking the Waiting List?

According to student representatives, waiting lists helped candidates:

• Understand their admission chances
• Track vacant seats
• Plan alternative admission options.

Students have reported that waiting list, which was available in previous years has not been published this year. They argue that transparency is important because many students depend on waiting list to know the vacant seats. JMI has introduced 30 new academic programmes. There will be entry and exit in Four-Year Undergraduate Programme. The JMI has not changed fee structure and no tuition fee hike has been done for students this year.
