OBC Students Association demands reservation in BBAU recruitment, PhD admissions
The association has alleged that the Other Backward Classes reservation is not being implemented by BBAU Lucknow in its recruitment and admission process.
All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) has sent a letter to the Vice-Chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, requesting to implement OBC reservations in the admissions and recruitment process.
The association has alleged that the Other Backward Classes reservation is not being implemented by BBAU Lucknow in its recruitment and admission process. The students association in its letter sent to the VC of BBAU has requested to implement the reservation.
The letter states: βOn behalf of the All India OBC Students Association (ALOBCSA), we request you to implement the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the admission of undergraduate, masters, and PhD courses and also in the recruitment process of teaching and non-teaching staff.β
It has stated further: βWe are surprised to see even the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota is being implemented in the PhD admission of the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University but not the Other Backward Classes (OBC) quota.β
The OBCs constitute 52 percent of the population who are still socially and educationally backwards. βEducation is the only way for our emancipation and Central sponsored Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) give a platform for their empowerment,β reads the letter sent by AIOBCSA.
The letter urges VC: βHence, we request the University administration to implement 27 percent OBC Reservations in the admissions and recruitment process of the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University.β
