The RUSA grant allocation shall be distributed among the quality initiative, faculty development, research, innovation, employability, student exchange programmes and industrial collaboration.

Panjab University has received Rs 10.5 crore under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) grant. RUSA is a programme through which the Indian Government provides strategic funding to higher educational institutions to improve quality and work on excellence in higher education. 

The RUSA grant allocation is divided into sections for respective areas. The grant consists of INR 7.5 crore for research, innovation, and quality enhancement, Rs 1.75 crore for faculty development, and Rs 1.25 crore for equitable projects.  Central research facilities, business ownership, employability and innovation (EEI) hub, international faculty recruiting, exchange programs, researcher recruitment, industry associations, and research initiatives will all be supported by the funds.

During the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the university thanked key stakeholders and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar for their collective efforts of the ministry of education, UGC and UT administration. VC further stated that the academic and research infrastructure of the university will be greatly benefit from the INR 10.5 crore that the university has received under the RUSA award. This amount will be used wisely to advance faculty development, boost student employability, and fortify the research ecosystem.

The VC encouraged all faculty members to keep working hard to support their university's academic excellence and help it succeed in the future.  The academic members in attendance enthusiastically endorsed the announcement. The funds received under the RUSA grant will be utilised to enhance the ecosystem of research and development of the university.
