Pradhan holds meeting with officials on implementation plan of Digital University

Announced in the Union Budget 2022, the Digital University will bring in a new paradigm in higher education

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting with senior officials of his ministry and Chairman of University Grants Commission and the All India Council for Technical Education on the roadmap for the implementation plan of the proposed Digital University.

The government in Budget 2022 announced the establishment of the virtual university to increase access to education.

Sharing the information Pradhan wrote on Twitter: “With senior officials of the @EduMinOfIndia, @ugc_india, @AICTE_INDIA and Directors of @iitdelhi and @iitmadras discussed the roadmap and implementation plan for the proposed Digital University.”

Dharmendra Pradhan wrote: “Announced in the Union Budget 2022, the Digital University will bring in a new paradigm in higher education with a focus on affordability, equity, accessibility, quality and employability.”

UGC Chairman, M Jagadesh Kumar recently speaking with Shiksha.com shared the concept of the virtual university and said that the concept of universities will also change, the university will no longer be confined to campus, but it will be distributed over a network, where students are geographically distributed.

He said that as the prime minister talked about the virtual university, the hub will be administrative and technical support and this hub will collaborate with leading institutions in India and abroad. “Once many universities start offering online degree courses then this hub university will pick the best course from the best teacher and they will form the spokes,” Kumar said.

All these courses offered by all these higher education institutions will be offered through this hub university.
