Pradhan welcomes establishment of Bhimabhoi Chairs at DU and GGV
UGC has approved the establishment of the Bhimabhoi Chair at two central universities, Delhi University and GGV, Bilaspur.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has welcomed the approval of the establishment of chairs after Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi at the University of Delhi and Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved the establishment of the Bhimabhoi Chair at two central universities, Delhi University and GGV.
Welcoming the decision Pradhan wrote on Twitter: “A proponent of Mahima Dharma, Santha Kabi Bhimabhoi played a stellar role in rekindling the cultural and literary consciousness in Odisha. A visionary, Bhimabhoi through his earthy poems batted for the empowerment of the marginalised.”
He added that Bhimabhoi Chairs at DU and GGV will encourage higher studies and research on the humanitarian philosophy of the great saint and is a fitting tribute to a literary giant, like him.
Earlier last year on October 2, Pradhan visited the birthplace, Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi to pay tribute to his statue at Rairakhole. There he suggested the UGC conduct extensive research on the philosophy of Mahima Dharma and include it as a part of the syllabus in the undergraduate curriculum.
