President Droupadi Murmu Addresses 2nd Convocation Ceremony of Nalanda University

President Droupadi Murmu addresses the 2nd convocation of Nalanda University. She called it a revival of a global culture and a step toward a developed India.

Nalanda University's second convocation has been attended by President Droupadi Murmu. She stated that rebuilding of ancient institution is a big moment for the entire world. She highlighted that this achievement is not just a proud moment for Bihar or India, but it marks  start of a global cultural rebirth.

During her speech, President Murmu highlighted how university has grown into a Centre of International Excellence. This growth happened with strong support and cooperation of East Asia Summit member countries. She also said that the institute has proved share of values in global community. She also praised Nalanda University for its effort to involve local people in its daily activities. The President noted that university will play a major role in helping India reach its goal of becoming a fully developed nation by year 2047.

New Centre for South-East Asian Studies Inaugurated

The convocation was a global event, with President Murmu distributing degrees and academic titles to students from thirty-one different countries. Along with awarding degrees, President officially opened  new Centre for South-East Asian Studies right on the university campus. She also inaugurated the grand ‘Vishwamitralaya’ Auditorium, a facility built with a seating capacity of 2,000 people.

The ceremony included several other notable leaders. Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar and Chancellor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Syed Ata Hasnain also shared their thoughts along with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who spoke about university's rising global footprint.
