The commission has also issued an advisory to students and parents, cautioning them against enrolling in JJTU's Ph.D. programs. It clarified that any Ph.D. degree awarded by the university during this period will not be recognized for higher education or employment purposes.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has debarred Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala University (JJTU), Chudela, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, from enrolling Ph.D. students for the next five years after finding violations in awarding doctoral degrees. The restriction will be in effect from the academic year 2025-26 to 2029-30.

The Commission has issued a public notice which states, a Standing Committee constituted by the UGC to oversee Ph.D. regulations examined data submitted by JJTU and found that the university did not comply with UGC Ph.D. regulations and academic norms. Despite being given an opportunity to explain the discrepancies, JJTU’s response was deemed unsatisfactory. Based on the Standing Committee’s recommendations, UGC has instructed the university to immediately halt Ph.D. admissions.

The commission has also issued an advisory to students and parents, cautioning them against enrolling in JJTU's Ph.D. programs. It clarified that any Ph.D. degree awarded by the university during this period will not be recognized for higher education or employment purposes.

β€œProspective students and parents are hereby advised not to take admission in the Ph.D. programme offered by the Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala University from now onwards. In the absence of UGC approval, Ph.D. awarded by the Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala University shall not be treated recognized/valid for the purpose of higher education and employment,” reads UGC notice.
