President to felicitate selected faculty members on September 5 in New Delhi

The Ministry of Education has invited nominations for the National Award to Teachers (NAT) 2025, aimed at recognizing outstanding contributions of teachers in higher education institutions (HEIs) and polytechnics across India. The awards seek to honour exemplary educators who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and innovation in their teaching careers.

According to a circular issued by University Grants Commission (UGC) Secretary Prof. Manish R. Joshi on June 5, all nominations must be submitted online through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal at https://www.awards.gov.in. The last date to submit nominations is July 9, 2025.

The final list of awardees will be selected through a two-stage process involving Search-cum-Screening Committees and a five-member Jury comprising eminent academicians and education policy leaders. Shortlisted candidates will participate in an interaction with the Jury in an online mode before final selections are made.

The prestigious awards will be conferred by the Hon’ble President of India on Teachers’ Day, September 5, 2025, at a ceremony in New Delhi.

All universities and institutions have been requested to promote this initiative and facilitate applications from their eligible faculty members. Nominations must include a detailed career profile (maximum 800 words) and a brief citation (up to 100 words), highlighting the nominee’s distinguished achievements and impactful service in teaching.

To be eligible, nominees must also provide vigilance clearance and an integrity certificate issued by the Vice Chancellor, Director, or Principal of their respective institution.
