US Remains a Secure Destination for STEM Students as RPI Launches in India
The US continues to be a secure and opportunity-rich destination for international STEM students as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute launches in India.
Senior education leaders have reiterated that the United States continues to be a stable and opportunity-rich destination for international students pursuing graduate education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), even amid ongoing global discussions around immigration and geopolitics.
The message was underlined at America STEM Strong: Vision 2026, with formal launch of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in India through InUni’s university partnership platform. “International students pursuing legitimate academic goals at recognised institutions continue to be welcomed and supported in the United States,” said Jarron Decker, Director, Graduate Admissions, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
He added that graduate students play a central role in RPI’s research ecosystem and remain key contributors to innovation and knowledge creation.
The event addressed concerns among students and families triggered by global media narratives around uncertainty in international mobility. Speakers emphasised that the US maintains a clear policy framework distinguishing student education pathways from broader immigration debates, with continued institutional support for student visas, campus safety and international research collaboration.
Blerina Polovina, Associate Vice President, International Student Recruitment & Partnerships at InUni Global, said there is often a disconnect between perception and on-ground reality. She noted that students enrolling in accredited US institutions and structured programmes continue to see strong academic and career outcomes.
According to Polovina, the strength of US graduate education lies in its concentration of globally ranked STEM universities, extensive research funding and close industry linkages. She said graduate students in the US are not only learners but active contributors across disciplines such as engineering, computing, science, architecture and management.
