Students who have completed their first-year MSc, either in physics, applied mathematics, astronomy, electronics, or scientific computing, are eligible to apply for the Vacation Students Programme (VSP). Besides, third-year bachelor’s of technology or engineering and those in the third or fourth year of the integrated MSc programme can also send applications.
Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune is now inviting applications for a seven-week program in astronomy and physics research. All those students who are keen to pursue the course can send their online applications for VSP on or before May 31.

Besides, third-year bachelor’s of technology or engineering and those in the third or fourth year of the integrated MSc programme can also send applications.
The participants will be paid a stipend of INR 10,000 and will be provided free accommodation on the IUCAA campus during the programme. They will also be paid second-class (non-AC) return railway fare between the place of their residence or education and Pune. If there is any query, students are advised to address it to the coordinator (Core programmes) at aocp@iucaa.in.
During the programme, students will be mentored by scientists. They can also take part in seminars and pursue projects. The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) is an autonomous institution set up by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to promote nucleation and growth of active groups in astronomy and astrophysics in Indian universities. IUCAA is in the University of Pune campus next to the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, which operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope.
It must be noted that scientists at IUCAA work on research in a wide range of areas in astronomy, astrophysics and physics. IUCAA also has active research groups in fields like classical and quantum gravity, cosmology, gravitational waves, optical and radio astronomy, Solar System physics and instrumentation.
