Karnataka Schools to begin offline classes for Classes 1 to 5 from October 25, Guidelines released
Primary and Secondary Education has made it compulsorily to screen students, teachers and staff for COVID-19 symptoms on entry.
Karnataka government has announced that the schools across the state will reopen from October 25 for classes 1 to 5 amid the sustained decline in COVID-19 cases. After considering the recommendation made by the COVID-19 technical advisory committee, the government has said that the schools will be allowed to reopen for offline classes while strictly adhering to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and SOPs.
As per the guidelines released, it is mandatory for students to have parental consent to attend offline classes. Primary and Secondary Education has made it compulsorily to screen students, teachers and staff for COVID-19 symptoms on entry.
The classes will be conducted with 50 per cent of the seating capacity of the classroom. Schools have been asked to ensure that the provision of hand sanitisers and physical distancing of on-meter minimum is followed.
Only those teachers and staff who have got both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be allowed in Classes 1 to 5. Teachers over 50 years of age have to use face shields.
"Class from 1st to 5th standards permitted to reopen from October 25, 2021, strictly adhering to Covid-19 Appropriate Behaviour and SOPs issued by the Department of Primary and Secondary Education," the government said in its order.
Along with the announcement of school reopening, the government has also eased other restrictions in the state, including allowing the public to use swimming pools at 50 per cent capacity of each batch, with a display of the number allowable at the entrance. However, only those who have received the two doses of Covid-19 vaccines and are asymptomatic will be allowed to enter the pool.
